Struggling To Keep Up With My Dad

10/29/2022: 5.09 Miles

This is my second run with my dad since I got home, and man that dude is fit! We got up early enough to avoid much foot traffic, so we went downtown. It wasn’t long before we got down in the 7:15/mile range, and I was wheezing quite a bit. I don’t think that it helped that my form isn’t nearly as fluid and relaxed as it used to be either; when I fixed my form in the last stretch I started to feel stronger, but it’s still a bit alarming to see how much my heartrate skyrockets while doing a pace that I used to do every single day for twice as long.

I don’t find it alarming because I’m not fit enough for the pace, however; I just know that this is the pace I’ll often end up habitually falling into, and I don’t want my heart to go haywire quite so often. I’m going to start conditioning myself to run closer to eight minute pace… at least for now.

Not much else to say about this one. Our cat was being a brat when I offered him a spot in my bed last night so I didn’t sleep quite as well as I would have liked. I kicked him out after an hour or so. This cat can hiss and growl at me as much as he wants, but not when I’m trying to sleep! Anyway, I hope your cats are less rude to you and until next time, Tim’s still running.
