Well, what do you know? Turns out running more often than once a fortnight actually gets you pretty fit! Not that I’m in fantastic shape or anything, but this is the first time I’ve felt pretty confident and consistent in my running in quite a while, which was a pleasant experience.
In other news, I swear that Dunkin’ Donuts has been struggling to stay alive in my area recently. I know this is a difficult time for all restaurants and other food services, but this is Dunkin’ we’re talking about! Boston’s signature coffee shop! It’s just hard to fathom the concept of this city not running on Dunkin’, that’s all. Fun fact about being a Boston resident actually: I am contractually obligated to mention Dunkin’ Donuts on any websites I might own once every week that I live in Boston for as long as I continue to run said website. So you haven’t heard the last of Dunkin’ on this here blog, let me tell you. …Did you know that there was a Dunkin’-sponsored Saucony running shoe in 2018?
Anyway, the city’s changed quite a lot- I mean, duh, that’s what cities do- but it’s changed even more in the last two years, no doubt thanks to the pandemic.
Even so, the city’s still here, and I’m still running through it, so I guess things haven’t changed too much. I had a lot of fun weaving through the crowds and cars today; it’s a nostalgic feeling whenever I get to do that. I actually think that running in the city helped me become a better racer, because having to dodge around pedestrians and other obstacles so often was great training for me to learn how to efficiently maneuver through big packs of runners during cross country season. So I can’t say the traffic lights and constant inconveniences bother me much. Anyway, until Boston finally puts the kibosh on it’s most successful coffee chain, Tim’s still running on Dunkin’.
