Marathon Sports Run Club 5: Mice That Are Alive

11/17/2022: 7.84 Miles

Rejoined the run club today for their last run before thanksgiving, and it was a lot of fun. I wound up going with the fastest folks which is ironic because last week I said that I no longer felt the need to go with them every time but one of my buddies from a previous week was running up there so I joined him. I met a few more friendly people in that group, which was really nice since I didn’t know that so many people usually ran up there!

Afterwards I talked to people for a while longer before heading home since I was headed for Philly to watch college friends run for the marathon! More on that in the next blog! Actually, you know what? Since I’m going to write the next blog right away anyway, I’ll just attach it to this one! How about that? That might be slightly confusing for those who read the blog through Strava (if such perilous people who do not even dream of subscribing to my website do exist), but whatever.

I’m Looking Forward To Cracking Up

11/19/2022: 1.93 Miles

Joined two college teammates for their pre-meet run before the marathon tomorrow. I was glad to get out and move my legs a bit since most of this weekend consisted of driving and standing around in the cold and cheering for people, and we had some fun for this brief jog to another teammates’ childhood track.

It’s hard to express all of the emotions that I felt while being surrounded by all of these old familiar faces this weekend. I haven’t actually seen any old friends since I got home, and it was so overwhelming (in a good way) to see so many people at once for these brief few days that went by so fast. I have missed these people, and will continue to miss them. I will miss running with them like I did today, jogging until something fun caught our attention and we stopped to appreciate the sights. I miss talking about obscure Youtube videos and laughing so hard that I can barely get in enough air to keep running. More than anything, I miss having this whole team of people at my back, ready to run with me or just hang out whenever any of us felt like it. I keep trying to tell myself that I will forge more close bonds like the ones I have made with these people, but I’m such a pessimist about my own social life, and sometimes I just don’t know if I can.

It’s harder, in some ways, to be with all of these people for a few days before having to leave them all over again. But at least we’ve gotten a few more memories together. And until I see them again, I’ll keep looking forward to cracking up, and until I can, Tim will still be running.
