11/2/2022: 3.70 Miles
After being invited by my mom to go on a walk with her, I realized this would be the perfect opportunity for me to find a different starting point for today’s run. After we walked to town hall I took off (with plenty of prior warning; I would never ditch my mom!) and ran on up to Brookline Reservoir to check out the completed renovations there.
I felt pretty good today, although the climb up to the reservoir left me a lot more winded than expected. To make matters worse, I had “We Are Having A Hootenanny” by Magnetic Fields for the entire run. If you want to fully grasp how infuriating that experience can be, I would encourage you to listen to “We Are Having A Hootenanny” by Magnetic Fields for half an hour. It’s a good song, but I really would not recommend letting it get it stuck in your head. Of course it’s a real earworm, so that might be hard to avoid if you listen to it on repeat for half an hour. Needless to say, I strongly regretted doing the “do-si-do down to get the lowdown on the hoedown”. If I get this song stuck in my head for the entirety of another run, I might have no choice but to dedicate another blog post to a fully-fleshed out, in-depth analysis of the song’s lyrics. Because I know that’s the content that everyone wants. It’s runs like these that I wonder how long I could run on my own for before I started to go completely insane. I’ve made it to marathon distance, but I think I would start to crack around 40-50 miles.
Anyway, after I left the reservoir, I ran towards home, made a brief stop at the bookstore, and then finished the run. You might be wondering why I stopped at the bookstore in the middle of a run while I was all sweaty and gross and full of adrenaline when I had walked past it with my mother just an hour earlier. Good. Keep wondering.
That wraps it up for today. I want to thank all of my new subscribers for tagging along for the ride, whether you read every blog or don’t touch this site ever again; having any subscribers at all already far exceeds my expectations, and I’m humbled to know that there are people in my life who have even a modicum of interest in this little passion project of mine. Until next time, Tim is graciously still running.
